Royal Stone Beds Recognised As National Treasure
Two royal stone beds at the temple worshiping King Dinh Tien Hoang in the northern province of Ninh Binh have been recognized as the national treasure.
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam announced the Prime Minister’s decision on the recognition at the National Culture, Sports and Tourism Festival 2018 held in Ninh Binh on October 28.
One of the stone beds dates back to the early 17th century and is the only version created by the royal court of the Le-Trinh Dynasty as an offering.
The rectangular stone bed, which is 127cm wide and 187cm long, weighs about 1.5 tonnes.
The other dating three centuries ago is 188 cm long and 138 cm wide, weighs about 2 tonnes.
In the middle of the beds are carvings of a dragon.

Week To Highlight Great National Unity, Viet Nam’s Cultural Heritag
A week themed “Great National Unity – Viet Nam’s Cultural Heritage 2018” will take place at the Viet Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, in Ha Noi, from November 18 to 23.
As part of the activities to mark the founding anniversary of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front (November 18, 1930) and Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), the event has attracted the participation of nearly 200 people from 15 ethnic groups across the country.
The highlights of this year’s event, “Great National Unity” Festival at the Viet Nam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, during the opening ceremony, will be the programme “Colour of cultural heritage” introducing the national intangible cultural heritage of ‘Soong Co’ singing of the San Diu ethnic group in Thai Nguyen province.
Seminar Promotes Viet Nam-Japan Culture, Trade Exchange
The Viet Nam-Japan culture exchange seminar was held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on November 3, covering a wide range of issues, from politics-diplomacy to culture, education-training, tourism and trade cooperation.
The event was part of the 4th Viet Nam-Japan culture and trade exchange programme taking place in Can Tho City from November 2-4.
Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Truong Quang Hoai Nam affirmed that Japan is a large trade, investment and tourism partner of Viet Nam in general and Can Tho City in particular; however, bilateral cooperation is still a far cry from potential and strengths of both sides.
He stated that the city has worked to complete mechanisms and improve business climate to fortify collaboration with Japan in prioritised sectors of high-tech agriculture and tourism.
