North Korea - US Summit: Golden Opportunity For Ha Noi Tourism
The second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un later this month is considered as a “golden opportunity” for Ha Noi's tourism and businesses have already taken actions to seize this opportunity.
Vice Chairman of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Ha Van Sieu told local media that the second summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un is a big event with global impact.
This is a great opportunity for Ha Noi in particular and Viet Nam in general to promote the country, people and attractive destinations through about 3,000 international agencies and newspapers covering the summit.
Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi Tourism Association Trinh Thi My Nghe said that US President Barack Obama tasting bun cha, French President Macron drinking coffee and walking in Ha Noi's Old Quarter or an Australian Prime Minister running around Hoan Kiem Lake were broadly reported worldwide by international media, thereby showing Hanoi as a safe and hospitable destination in Viet Nam.
Many experts said that this event will make Ha Noi and Viet Nam more widely known as a destination of peace.
In order to take advantage of this rare opportunity, Vice Chairman of VNAT Ha Van Sieu said that the VNAT has promptly worked with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and proactively provided information and data about Viet Nam tourism.
At the International Media Center of the summit, VNAT is displaying identification images of the country and people and arrange tours for international journalists who want to tour Ha Noi and surrounding areas

Efforts Made To Preserve Ethnic Minority Attire
Students of ethnic minority backgrounds or those attending ethnic minority boarding schools will wear traditional costumes two days per week and during festivals, under a project approved by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.
The project to preserve and promote the traditional costumes of Vietnamese ethnic minorities has a total funding of 222.9 billion VND (9.58 million USD), with 51.2 billion VND (2.2 million USD) sourced from the state budget and the rest from the local coffer.
It is expected to contribute to the sustainable cultural development of Vietnamese ethnic minorities, and raise public awareness of the importance of preserving and protecting the traditional clothes and customs of ethnic minority groups.
The project, to last from 2019 to 2030, will also compile a list of the costumes and outfits, honouring outstanding artisans in this field.
According to the Museum of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups’ Culture, 40 of the 54 ethnic groups across the country no longer wear their traditional costumes on a daily basis.
Instead, there is a growing tendency to adorn ready-to-wear mass-produced clothes, it said.
