The Kate festival, the biggest annual festival of the Cham ethnic people of the Balamon religion in Binh Thuan, is to show respect to gods and pray for good weather, bumper crops, good health and prosperity. In the morning of October 16th, the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Binh Thuan had organized the Kate Festival 2020.
The worship part of the event starts with the ceremony of carrying the Costume of Po Sah Inu goddess to the main tower. After that, other ceremonies are operated such as Tower’s Gate opening, Linga-Yoni purifying, Costume put-on and the Kate feast at the main tower.
The festival also includes many traditional Cham activities like: Ginger pie making contest, Saranai horn blowing, Rice grinding, Water carrying, etc. Moreover, there are activities for visitors such as Pot cracking, Cham musical performance, Cham’s handicraft products, etc.
